Dr. Barnali Chaudhary is an Assistant Professor in the area of Business Communication at IIM Jammu. Her research includes communication skills, especially oral communication, with a special interest in humor as a key component in different modes of communication. Her work in multimodal communication has taken her to closely work with sign language users in India and abroad working with structural aspects of sign languages as well as the social and educational status of deaf people. She has teaching experience as a lecturer at IIM Indore for their Integrated Masters Program. She has been associated with several national and international universities like the University of Cagliari, University of Alicante and Jagiellonian University for research and teaching collaborations. She was awarded the Doctoral and Professional Fulbright Fellowship that gave her the opportunity to work as a research fellow at the University of New Mexico. She is also a member of Experimental Pragmatics research group in Italy (XPRAG).
As a practitioner, she runs an online portal named ComCon coaching people from different age groups and backgrounds as a Communication Counsellor.
