Q.1 What is the objective of the IPM Program?

IPM aims to prepare young professionals full of managerial and decision-making capabilities using an ultra-modern academic pedagogy of global standards based on a Holistic and Multidisciplinary Curriculum. 


Q.2 What is the duration of the Program?

IPM Program is structured for five years. After the successful completion of the first three years the student will be awarded with the BBA degree. Additionally, after fulfilling the admission requirement for the post graduate Program the student is admitted to the MBA Program. Please visit the Curriculum page for more details. Q.3 Are there any exit options in IPM?

Students would be provided an exit option with a BBA degree/ certificate subject to completing the required norms. This program has been strategically designed to allow the students to exit from the program after completing each year up to the third year as per the New Education Policy 2020. Q.4 When is the IPM Program expected to start?

We expect the Program to commence by September 2024. Any updates regarding the commencement of the program will be notified on the website.


Q.5 Is IPM a residential Program?

The IPM is a full-time residential Program.


Q.6 What will be the medium of instruction in the IPM?

The medium of instruction in the IPM is English.


Q.7 Can you give a brief about IIM Jammu?

Q.8 What is the admission process for IPM?

The admission process of IIM Jammu consists of:

  • Joint Integrated Program in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA)
  • Academic Profile of Class 10th and 12th examination
  • Preparation of Merit list based on JIPMAT Score and Gender Diversity.

Q.9 What is the eligibility criteria?

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2022,2023 or appearing in 2024. The candidate must have passed Standard X/ SSC or equivalent examination in the year 2020 or later.
  • Qualifying Examination-Candidate should have a Minimum 60% in standard X/ SSC and standard XII/ HSC or equivalent examinations (55 % for the candidates from SC/ST/ PwD category). Candidates who are likely to complete standard XII/ HSC or equivalent by the end of July 31st, 2024, can also apply.
  • Applicants pursuing their XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can also apply.

Q.10 What is the age criteria for the IPM?

Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2022,2023 or appearing in 2024. The candidate must have passed Standard X/ SSC or equivalent examination in the year 2020 or later.

Q.11 What is the qualifying examination requirement?

Q.12 Can applicants from international schools affiliated to foreign board’s like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) apply?

Yes. Applicants pursuing their X and/or XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign board’s like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can also apply.


Q.13 How the test is conducted for the IPM Program?

The admission to IPM would be through a Joint Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (JIPMAT) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Please visit the Admission policy page for more details.


Q.14 Is there a component of interview for the selection?

The selection process does not include an interview as part of the evaluation. Please check the admission policy.


Q.15. Will companies differentiate between CAT and IPM students during placements?

No, it’s the IIM brand that the companies value. Moreover, any student that potentially perform during the interview as per the set criteria of the respective companies will anyhow gets the preference.


Q.16 Can we take a drop after 3 years and get back with work ex.?

Yes, you can exit after 3 years but to join MBA again, you will have to give CAT exam as a fresh applicant.


Q.17 Can we join any other IIM after completing 3 years of BBA from IPM?

You can drop from the program after completing 3 years of BBA, rest would be up to you. To join any other business school, you will have to write CAT or any other relevant exam that is to be considered by the respective business school.


Q.18 After the third year, if we give CAT and do not clear it then do we get to stay back at the same IIM?

In case, you have withdrawn from the institute then you will have to clear CAT exam to rejoin, else you get to continue the program from the same institute if you fulfil all the relevant criteria.


Q.19 Would we be allowed to take CAT after the third year of IPM?

Yes


Q.20 Is PI-WAT a part of selection process?

No


Q.21 Is it possible to get seat with low 12th score due to personal reasons?

The criteria for preparing the merit list will be based on the composite score comprising the weightage of JIPMAT score and gender diversity as follows:

Q.22 Will IIM Jammu accept admission only through JIPMAT or will it accept SAT scores as well?

Only JIPMAT scores will be considered, no SAT scores.


Q.23 What is the difference between IPMAT and JIPMAT?

IPMAT is conducted by an individual IIMs Indore and Rohtak separately, whereas JIPMAT is for IIM Bodhgaya and IIM Jammu and it is conducted by National Testing Agency which has been conducting-JEE, NEET etc.


Q.24 Is it a risk for commerce students to enter into IIM as 3/100 selections are from commerce for MBA programs, is it truly that much of a risk for a commerce student?

There is no disadvantage of being a commerce or science or any other student. In fact, we encourage the diversity in the classroom as diversity stimulates very good discussions.


Q.25 Are there any cons of a science student joining this course?

The course of IPM considers students who wants to build the business acumen irrespective of science, commerce, humanities etc.


Q.26 Is there any difference shown for state and CBSE board students while considering 10th and 12th boards?

No, the admissions are done on the basis of the merit list.


Q.27 Please tell about JIPMAT syllabus?

  1. Section A: Quantitative Aptitude: Questions will be asked to test the understanding and application of various concepts up to class 10 Mathematics.
  2. Section B: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
    1. Data Interpretation - Questions will be asked to test the ability to interpret from the given dataset.
    2. Logical Reasoning - Questions will be asked to test the reasoning ability.
  3. Section C: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

Q.28 How do we have to calculate the class 10 percentage? I had 6 subjects in class 10 and there are 5 main subject and one additional subject. Do we have to calculate 6 subjects or 5 subjects for percentage? In CBSE it says additional subject won't have any impact on total percentage. Please confirm.

It should be as per policy to calculate aggregate marks/percentage. In absence of such policy, applicant should add all the subjects. If case of further query, share the marksheet at ipm.admissions@iimj.ac.in , we will reply accordingly.


Q.29 If we give JIPMAT and we receive admission offer from IIM Jammu and we submit fees but after we get offer from another IIM and we wish to switch, then will the fees be refunded or not?

Along with the Admission Offer, candidates will receive details about withdrawal policy also.


Q.30 Being an aspirant from Kerala, how can I survive among Hindi speaking crowd?

We appreciate and respect the diversity. We provide an inclusive environment. Our students and faculty members are from different places.


Q.31 What if one has high score in JIPMAT and say 85% in 12th, will he or she would get into the college or not?

Depends on your rank in the merit list, you may be offered the admission.


Q.32 What is the gender diversity at IIM Jammu for IPM programme?

We promote gender diversity, that’s why composite score for the selection of the candidate consider the same. The criteria for preparing the merit list will be based on the composite score comprising the weightage of JIPMAT score (60%), academic profile of class 10th (15%) and 12th (15%), and gender diversity (10%)


Q.33 Will we be able to build a good portfolio for ourselves for getting jobs in financial sector?

Once you enter to the MBA program you can choose Finance as your major business function area.


Q.34 As admissions are merit based and I secured 81% in 12th. So the chances of me getting in college is less right?

There is no weightage of class 10th & 12th percentage in merit list preparation. Refer to point No.21 for more clarification.


Q.35 What can be the expected cutoff for JIPMAT? Also, will there be sectional cutoffs?

This is for the first time we are having JIPMAT as admission test for IPM. So, it depends on the competition. Yes, there will be sectional cut-off.


Q.36 In the worst case if the CBSE 12th exams get canceled, how will it affect the weightage given to the class 12th marks in final merit list?

There is no weightage of class 10th & 12th percentage in merit list preparation. Refer to point No.21 for more clarification.


Q.37 What is the intake of the IPM Program

Q.40 Are there any consequence of a science student joining this course?

No disadvantage of being a commerce or science or any other student. In fact we encourage the diversity in the classroom as diversity stimulates very good discussions. The course of IPM considers students who wants to build the business acumen irrespective of science, commerce, humanities etc.

The IPM will help develop well-rounded individuals that possess critical 21st century capacities, including increased creativity and innovation, critical thinking and higher-order thinking capacities, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, communication skills, more in-depth learning and mastery of curricula across fields, increases in social and moral awareness, besides general engagement and enjoyment of learning.

IPM structure is based on a Holistic and Multidisciplinary Curriculum and course structure.

It is a rigorous management program with a combined courses of foundation, business core and electives at the under-graduate (UG) level and advanced management courses at the postgraduate (PG) level.

Q.43 What are the areas in which electives are offered for IPM at IIM Jammu?

Q.44 What internship courses are available for IPM?

Each student must complete the Social and Corporate internship.


Q.45 When the social internship to be completed?

Student must complete an internship of prescribed duration in any social sector organization (Non-Government Organizations [NGOs]/ Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR]) of his/ her choice, subject to approval by the Chairperson (Placements). This internship would be completed at the end of IIIrd Semester. 


Q.46 When the corporate internship to be completed?

Student must complete a business internship of prescribed duration with a business enterprise of their choice, subject to approval by the Chairperson (Placements). This internship would be completed at the end of IVth Semester. 


Q.47 Is there any assistantship for the internship?

The Placement Office will assist the students in finding suitable summer assignments. Each student would be provided a company mentor in his/her organization and needs to sincerely work on the assigned project\tasks under the guidance of his/her company mentor.


Q.48 Do you have a provision for the elective courses?

Yes. Generally, a course which can be chosen from a pool of courses and which may be very specific or specialized or advanced or supportive to the discipline/ subject of study or which provides an extended scope or which enables exposure to some other discipline/ subject/ domain or nurtures the candidate's proficiency/skill is called an Elective Course.


Q.49 What is international exchange Program?

The international exchange program will provide global exposure to the student to study in the international partner institutions subject to the course norms. Please visit International Exchange Program page.


Q.50 Is a student exchange program compulsory for all?

Student exchange program is not a mandatory for a student. However, if a student wish to undertake such a program must adhere to course norms and exchange policies.


Q.51 Will the initial semester(s) be conducted offline or online?

Given the current situation, we will have classes online. However, if situations permit, we would have offline classes.


Q.52 Does your institution provide individual degrees for BBA and MBA?

Yes, after 3 years of BBA, you get a degree for that while after MBA you get a separate degree for that.


Q 53. What type of Grading System is followed by IIM Jammu?

IIM Jammu follows a relative grading system on a 10.0-point scale for awarding CGPA in its IPM Program.


Q.54. What formulae is used for the conversion of CGPA to percentage in IIM Jammu?

CGPA of IPM Program of IIM Jammu is based on relative grading in the individual courses and hence is not convertible into percentages. However, notionally the CGPA may be multiplied by a factor of 10 to obtain a numerical percentage. 


Q.55 Does the Institute provide a placement guarantee to the IPM graduates?

The Institute will provide placement assistance to all IPM graduates except those candidates who are sponsored by companies. Please note that the Institute does not guarantee placement to the candidates.

Q.57.Whether loan facility will be available for funding the course?

Yes. Educational loans are available from banks. You can contact the Branch Manager of your Bank regarding this. IIMJ will provide all requisite documents for this purpose.


Q.58. Does the Institute provide any scholarships?

Institute provides need-based scholarships to meritorious and economically poor students. Such scholarships are provided by the Institute and is limited up to 10% of the batch. The Institute also facilitates scholarships awarded by different Ministries such as Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Employment etc.


Q.59. Is it mandatory to take hostel?

Yes, hostel would be mandatory for the students. IPM is a fully residential program and IIM Jammu has in-house facility for the same.


Q.60. How is Jammu as a city?

Jammu is the winter capital of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the headquarters and the largest city in Jammu district of the Union Territory. Lying on the banks of the river Tawi, the city of Jammu, is surrounded by the Himalayas in the north and the northern-plains in the south. Jammu is the second most populous city of the union territory. Jammu is known as the City of Temples. The city is absolutely safe to live in. Q.61. How safe is Jammu?

The city is absolutely safe to live in. There is no law and order problem.
